The United States has had an interesting history of using surveillance devices over many years. Back in the year 2012, the United States in the context of civil aviation and the Obama administration agreed to sign a law that authorized again that agency to write rules concerned with the US airspace allowing the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Moreover, the country has an important agency that represents the interest of group using UAV in the US. This department was handed code of conduct guiding the operation of civilian drones in the US airspace. For instance, the code of conduct poses guidelines not to operate the UAVs in a way that the can lead to risks, or temper with individuals ‘privacy concerns. These codes of conducts are used to guide those people using the drones; the civilians and the businesses so that they do not cross lines of the laws and regulations laid down. In addition, the code of conducts are important since they outline what to do and what not to do for people using UAVs. They are used responsibly for proper practices for these organizations. The rapid advancement technology for these drones is what has brought the need for the development of the code of conduct, which are built on three premises, safety, professional, and respect. These three things are the core values that are expected to be protected. They provide a checklist of operations that demonstrate obligations to the industry so it can function safely and responsibly without endangering other people security and privacy.  This paper discusses the use of drone by civilian and businesses and their effect to the sky. 

Drones are of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and they can be remotely controlled from the ground. Federation Aviation Administration is responsible for regulating drone. Other people suggest that there is another approach including the state in regulating. Drones are relatively cheaper and at times capable of being held continuously at a certain level than their counterparts. The cost of acquiring a drone is relatively lower and more convenient compared to the other counterpart’s aircrafts. Business people should acquire these drones in their undertakings rather than going for the other aircrafts. The speed at which it tasks in information is magically impossible. The speed the drones have an added advantage over the other aircrafts. The civilians and other business people should consider using these aircrafts. The speed makes them be fast in encoding and decoding messages to the people concerned in delivering messages. Journalists and people in mass communication can be advantageous when they use drones because of their speed in delivering messages and how they move. Architects and people involved in carrying out surveys also should use drones since they fly in the skies to take pictures of the buildings in a three-dimension view.

The Benefits of using Drones

To start with, some scholars argue that drones have the ability to collect information faster than a human eye. They also go to certain level and areas other aerial devices cannot reach and due to this, it can pose some risks but if well handled them can be managed. By the end of 2015, the congress calls to increase the extent to which drones access the skies. This is because of the negative impacts, which they have in the environment and to other users. Drones for a very long time continue to present unique challenges since they are able to use a variety of sensors to collect information from unique source points. The potential things of having our moves to be monitored and record praises civility and privacy concerns far much below subsurface (Shirley 3) As much as drones are prone to danger there are some desirable benefits associated with them.

Drones are cheaper compared to other manned aircrafts, as much they do require a pilot and thus are cheaper to maintain. This helps to low the cost of operations by most government and security agencies who use them when they are required to handle various operations concerning national security either in the country, or by the international community. The government only needs to invest only in the initial purchases of the drones and the maintenance costs. Further, the government has already invested in the people with skills to operate them from time to time. This makes it easier to use drones to handle sensitive and crucial operations from time to time.

People like architects and real estate developers should think of acquiring the drones so that they can capture their buildings of their interests in a three-dimension view. This is one-way business people use the drones. As much the use of drones by civilians and businesses can cause chaos in the skies, the Federal Aviation Administration has proposed that for the drones to be allowed in the airspaces they need pilot certification for them to be allowed. The reason behind this is that they can cause congestion and interrupt the normal operations of other planes on a typical day. However, this is very dangerous because they are remotely operated from the ground. This is prone to possible hitches, which can cause very bad accidents and lead to negative impacts.

Drones can be a solution to the ecosystem to those environmental managers by providing low cost and low impact on the environment. This is because they can be effectively and efficiently be used to monitor different environmental issues and impacts from time to time. Generally, they can aid in cost reduction of all the operation costs that are incurred by the environment department of the state. Further, drones have a low impact on the environment, as they are biodegradable when they decompose after use. This is very useful especially in helping reduce environmental pollution.

They can be used as a mapping tool to conserve the environment due to their ability to quickness in motion and good quality in imaging Apart from the advantageous function of imaging; eco-drones also have the ability to send metrological data and distribute broadcast messages. This makes the drones suitable in the tropical areas meaning they can navigate in areas where clouds hinder the transmission of satellites.

Setting up drone goes on databases pertaining to space that allows the Directorate General for Civil Aviation to distinguish between the cases use and could also not optionally required to deliver messages to drone systems by their manufacturers (Bennet 5). Researchers, technologists, and new organizations are considering the application of drone technology to gather data and report. The Unmanned Aviation Vehicles have an expensive way of setting up their sensors in the air to capture images and data to show some concern for safety issues (William 22). UAV suggests that guidelines and openness to the public the way to address the effects technology leads to. Unmanned Aviation Vehicles has effects on many fields that are mass communication and media inclusive. They take part in hunting for terrorists by guiding the small aircrafts directed by remotes underground. Mass communication and journalism take different dimensions practical and theories inclusive using inductive and qualitative approach to take up the notes and ways how the unmanned aviation vehicles work.

One of the markets of civilian drones is expected to rise from the law enforcement. They maintain surveillance in areas where terrorism seems to happen. They help the police departments to look for ways to reconstruct traffic accidents and to locate missing people. It makes the work of police easier in the United States since it does not take them long to find people who are missing since they can be endangered. Hence, they help to reduce cases of kidnapping and the risks they come with. They help in saving people’s lives.

Negative Effects of Drones On the Environment

Drones have an impact on the natural sound scheme. The natural sound interferes with especially when they are sent for operations for long distances. There is noise pollution in the air, which has negative impacts on the environment (Shi and Emmanuel 10). The drones also create air pollution when they fly in the skies. This pollution is achieved in two ways. To start with, when they are flow, they normally cause noise pollution, which is a so source of distraction to other organisms in the environment. Secondly, drones release some emission with impact negatively on the skies and to the general environment. The emissions released by the drones affect the skies. In one way, or the other, they affect the formation of rain, leading to acid rains. All these make the environment not to be conducive. The environment no longer becomes clean and, therefore, there is no clean, fresh air in the skies.

The drones interfere with the risky operations and cause destruction for the rescue teams used to fly to rescue people involved in crashes and other cases related to air attack by the terrorists. By the fact that they are remotely operated from the ground, they pose a very big risk to these operations. In other ways, they are used by most government agencies to handle sensitive operations that are deemed too risky to involve human beings. However, what make them irrelevant is because retaliating groups like the terrorist who want to carry out their operations mostly to bring down the government can use them for the wrong reasons. This poses a great risk to other people who are in the rescue teams because they cannot communicate with them in any way which is every essential in any rescue operation. The rescue group and the other parties involved are exposed to risky emergency operations. The rescue personnel tends to go through risky operations sometimes that might have been caused by the drones.

As much as decomposition is a good thing, it also has a negative impact on the skies and the environment at large. The drones are made of materials, which make them biodegradable, this makes them decompose before the enemy approaches them so when they are under attack. The sensors connected to the drones are made of degradable materials making the craft be disposable. The sensors detect danger is making the craft decompose automatically in case of danger anytime it happens. When the rain pours down it pours with the materials left after the craft decomposing to the land and the seas. The emitted materials after decomposition pose a danger to land, air, as well as water (Algar 12). The materials pose a danger to the people around. It poses a threat to the environmental costs, which are problematic. The threat the unmanned aviation vehicles poses to the environment is just the same way the manned aerial missile strikes. These residues left after the attacks, the benzene, and trichloroethylene are chemicals from the residues contaminate the air, water, and soil resources.

Public health of the people around is endangered. The toxins from these residues affect the health of people and cause lots of death. The health impacts are more when it comes to decomposition of the crafts. It leads to blood cancer and skin diseases when the residues get to contact with the skin. The respiratory system is also affected due to the chemicals emitted from the decomposed crafts. Health statistics has shown that cancer rates and cases have gone up since there are no people protesting against the existence of the drones. Cancer has become an emerging issue to many developed and developing countries, and the effects of these of drones are one of the major causes that have led to the rise of the disease.

Drones lead to deaths of innocent civilian ‘lives and their properties as well. A situation where one, or more drones are attacked by their enemies, or terrorists imposes danger to the civilians. Civilians get no time off their professional time; they do not have personal time to be out of their work. This is because they may not be aware of any government operation that concerns the use of the drones to combat issues relates to terrorist among others. This is because most information concerning the operation is classified. Therefore, most of the civilians who are affected are normally caught unawares. Hence, drones tend to interfere with the rescue operation team, which is sent to rescue the innocent civilians. This is one of the negative impacts that are associated with the use of drones in government operations. This applies to the people in the military across the world who tends to believe that the usage of drones has more advantages compared to their disadvantages.

Additionally, drones are known to cause mid-air collisions because they are controlled remotely from the ground. Human-made machines are known to fail due to various reasons, which can lead to the occurrence of such an event. Therefore, it requires a lot of attention from the professionals who are operating the drones to avoid any incident. However, the use of a drone is normally prone to this. In addition, the signals of the unmanned aerial vehicles can be affected by weather, forcing the police department to take charge to avoid any occurrence of danger to various parties that are involved.


Drones have both positive and negative effects of the environment as discussed in the essay below. Countries such as the USA have invested on research and development in order to enhance efficiency by making drones fully biodegradable. This will help the negative effects to the environment.

This also helps in protecting the privacy of another citizen from interferences from the media in particular. Transmission of messages is made easier using the drones. Drones have this advantage over other crafts with missiles.
