Analyzing an INGO Campaign:Analyze its mechanisms of impact. In particular, describe whether the organziation succeeded in its objectives and analyze why it was or was not effective
Analyzing an INGO Campaign
This is a research assignment in which you will analyze an INGO campaign.
You need to take the following steps:
2. Choose one campaign in which it has been involved; i.e. a particular effort to change policy or practice somewhere in the world. NOTE: You must focus on some sort of advocacy, not an effort at service delivery. For example, you can focus on an INGO’s effort to make Americans aware of a famine Darfur and to pressure the US government to send aid. You may not focus on an INGO’s efforts to reduce hunger by giving out free food. ( I have chosen their campaign on protecting Brazilian tribes which can be found on the organizations website.)
These links will lead you to the main campains involving Brazilian tribes.
And will help with the questions under section 2
For section 3. Based off the the campaign analyze if the organization is successful in their mission.
Once you have identified an organization and campaign, write an essay in which you do the following:
1) Describe the organization and the campaign. What did the organization do? Who did it claim to represent? How did it seek to effect change? What sorts of impacts did it have?
2) Analyze its mechanisms of impact. In particular, describe whether the organziation succeeded in its objectives and analyze why it was or was not effective. Do this using one or more of the frameworks studied in the course.
3) Analyze the organization’s representivity. In particular, assess whether the organization improved representation for its claimed stakeholders, and why or why not. Consider the issues raised in the course, and use the relevant literature to make your argument.
This is a description of what you should cover in the essay, not a rigid outline. You may want to interweave some of the description with the analysis
