Please note that typically the master thesis page length can vary from 40 to 90 pages. Usually, there is no page requirement because the length of a thesis depends on you as the researcher, your topic of interest, and the methods of analysis. Overall, the master thesis should include 5 chapters-1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
First, Chapter one is the Introduction chapter. It should include the following: (1) an introduction describing the background of the problem; (2) the statement of the problem; (3) the purpose and significance of the study; (4) the research design; the research questions/objectives, and, in a qualitative design, hypotheses; (5) the assumptions and limitations of the study; (6) operational definitions used in the study; and, (7) the expected outcomes.
Secondly, Chapter Two is the Literature Review. It describes the line of research or investigation of which the thesis is meant to form a most recent part. It identifies, describe, and evaluate the studies that support the thesis’s or research project’s formulations of the research problem, the research questions, and the significance of the study. It also describes and evaluates the studies that present the theoretical framework used to select the variables of the focus for the study and to guide the analysis and interpretation of data collected in the thesis project. If further identify, describe, and evaluate the studies supporting the selection of the thesis’s methodology and approach; and it support the appropriateness of the thesis’s instruments, measures, and/or methods used to collect data.
Third, Chapter 3 is called the Methods. This chapter supposed to describe step-by-step the methods and procedures used in your study, in a way that will enable future researchers to replicate your study. Specifically, Chapter Three will include: (1) the purposes of the study; (2) the research design; (3) target population and participant selection; (4) instruments; (5) hypotheses and research questions; (6) data collection and data analyses; and (7) expected findings. Please note that qualitative research does not make predictions of outcome in the sense of hypotheses. Please revisit the th comments made your instructor during week 5 concerning your research project, especially Chapter 3 of your thesis.
Chapters 4 and 5 will be discuss further as you progressed through the program.
