Burn! (1969) directed by Gilo Pontecorvo

The film Burn!

The film Burn! speaks to the history of slavery, colonialism, revolution and emancipation in the Caribbean during the nineteenth century. Using readings explain how the film borrows from actual events and social relations (race, gender, class, colonialism, for example) that marked the time period in this region. Discuss 2-3 of the ways in which the film may not have been true to historical events (as we historians have come to understand those events and the people involved).
