Canadian Federalism Law

From among the lectures and readings thus far, pick two topics or specific features of Canada’s constitution. Compare and contrast how each topic/feature has been shaped by history and politics.

Details & Tips

The final product needs to be focused and structured. The objective is to make a cogent, concise, and insightful argument, using the materials we have studied. A good assignment will:

  • Have a clear thesis statement (main argument);
  • Clearly set out which two topics/features are being compared;
  • Make clear links between constitutional law, history and politics;
  • Use course materials in thoughtful and interesting ways;
  • Use specific examples and references to the course materials.

Please used McGill Guide style (footnotes) to reference your sources. Footnotes do not count as part of the word count. Do not put substantive content into the footnotes.

This assignment is intended to draw only the materials (lectures, readings) we have covered in this course. You are not required to supplement with other materials. However, if you choose to do so, these materials should also be properly cited.
