Perceptual Map Assignment

Perceptual maps can have any number of dimensions but the most common is two dimensions.

Assignment:

You are the marketing director for a new company that is taking their product to market.  Upper management wants to know how they might position this product relative to the competition.  Assume they have a basic understanding of perceptual maps.  Your job is to create a perceptual map and report of your findings and recommendations to upper management.

You can pick any product in any industry that you choose, but you must IDENTIFY and EVALUATE at least 20 competitors (unless you can present a strong and convincing argument why you chose to use fewer than 20) and where they are positioned in your map.

You must also present and justify recommendations of where your product should be positioned.  Feel free to present or use any other information/sources/current events/etc. that you find relevant and/or interesting.  Also, feel free to make any assumptions you might find necessary, but also make sure to justify those assumptions.  This assignment is worth 50 points.

While I am specifying much of what your assignment should contain, how you present that information (length, format, etc.) is up to you.  This is meant to simulate how work occurs in real-world business situations.  However, given the nature of the assignment, the resources available, and the point value of this assignment, 3 to 5 pages should be the minimum you should be working towards.
