Rising amounts of Garbage/Rubbish

Rising amounts of Garbage/Rubbish

Every year, more than 300 million tons of plastic are produced for different uses by almost every industry, including the food and manufacturing sectors. Demand for plastic has drastically increased since half a century ago, and the current production is expected to quadruple by 2050. Despite efforts to promote recycling and reduce waste, the amount of litter produced has continued to increase
globally each year. Annually, millions of tons of waste end up in large “garbage patches” throughout the world’s oceans or are dumped in massive landfills. This rubbish pollutes our natural environment and oceans, spoils animals’ habitats, and results in the injury and deaths of countless animals who eat, or are harmed by, plastics and other discarded products.

Question: What could be some of the main causes for the rising amounts of garbage and rubbish produced by human activity today? Include supporting details and examples in your essay.
