Shakespeare’s sonnets that we have studied together, and explore a common pattern of images that these poems contain. Review/refer to the definition of “imagery.” For example, you might explore how Shakespeare uses images of nature’s seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) to express the passing of time; or you might discuss how images of color work in the poems, like the opposing pair– “black” and “fair.” Make sure your introduction contains a clear central idea about the pattern of imagery you are exploring. Quote from the poems to provide support for your discussion. Please have in-text citations and works cited page for sources!

All borrowings (indirect or direct), whether from primary or secondary sources, should be cited in-text. This includes both direct quotations and paraphrase. You need to remain emotionally neutral and moderately formal. The paper needs a well-focused thesis that is supported by ample specific, illustrative detail AND careful explanation of that detail. Paper needs to cite the text throughout the paper and two other sources.

Evaluation Essay Instructions and Prompt
An evaluation essay is, in essence, a review. The evaluation essay passes judgment on whether something is good or bad, better or worse than something comparable, etc.–and how so.
For your evaluation essay, write a review of a local place or service (a restaurant, food delivery service, museum, park, business, restaurant, etc.) using 3-5 criteria.
Use judgment and evidence to support your judgment.
