A- Directions:
1- You have to write an argumentative essay on the following topic – Euthanasia.
Below, you can find some of the subtopics or questions that are related to euthanasia and/ or
assisted suicide. You can also propose your own topic/ position, and you can choose one of
the following topics or a combination of one or 2.

  • Should physician-assisted suicide or euthanasia be legalized for terminally ill
    patients?
  • Is euthanasia illegal?
  • Does terminally ill people have the right to control their own death?
  • Would euthanasia or assisted suicide relieve families of the burden of caring of a
    terminally ill relative?
  • Is it ethical for doctors to assist in ending the life of patients?
  • Is euthanasia a morally/ ethically or religiously justified act?
  • Should doctors be persecuted for assisting in euthanasia or in the suicide of a
    terminally ill patient?
    2- Word Count: 750-850 words.
    3- Please, read the samples of argumentative essay posted on BB and the sample essay on
    page 75-76 in your textbook before drafting your essay.
    4- Please, follow the Outline for Developing Argumentative Essays (below) to make sure
    that you have addressed all the elements of an argumentative essay.
    5- Review and follow the ‘Argumentative-Essay Outline and Sample’ document posted on
    BB; i.e. the outline for the ‘School Uniform’ essay.
    6- Check the rubric below.
    7- Deadline: 15th of April before 4:00 p.m. via BB (I will not mark your essay unless it
    is submitted via BB and a safe-assign report is generated).

    understand the various debates related to euthanasia. You cannot depend only on these
    sources. You can use one and only one article from all the sources listed below. You
    must research the topic and choose the other sources to include in your essay.

  • You can also include chapters of eBooks.

    1- URL’s of websites ending in .com are not accepted.
    2- Wikipedia is not accepted.

  • You have to follow APA Style
  • Write your full name, ID number, course and the number of the section.
  • Font size 12, Times New Roman
  • Double spaced
    E *Note: You have to submit a softcopy (to check for plagiarism) on BB and a safe-assign
    report should be generated.
    *Note: You have to submit the softcopy before the deadline specified for BB submission
    (availability).
    E- Late or Missed Assignments:
    Submitting a term paper on time is a key part of the assessment process. Students who fail to
    submit their work by the deadline specified will automatically receive a 10% penalty.
    Assignments handed in more than 24 hours late will receive a further 10% penalty. Each
    subsequent 24 hours will result in a further 10% penalty.
    Plagiarism includes the following examples and it applies to all student assignments or
    submitted work:
     Use of the work, ideas, images or words of someone else without his/her permission or
    reference to them.
     Use of someone else’s wording, name, phrase, sentence, paragraph or essay without
    using quotation marks.
     Misrepresentation of the sources that were used.
    The instructor has the right to fail the coursework or deduct marks where plagiarism is
    detected
