Big Nate Essay

Big Nate Essay.

In the beginning, Nate has a dream that he’s in school and that he has to answer a question and he doesn’t know what the answer is to the question, so he just finds an excuse for not doing it. And then the bell rings. But then it’s really long, not like a school bell but an alarm bell. And then Nate wakes up and turns the alarm off and puts the covers back on and goes to sleep again.

And then his dad comes and says, “Time to go to school.” And then Nate is snoring. Then his dad nabs the blanket and then Nate wakes up and then he goes to eat breakfast. And then his dad says that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. (Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day?)

Middle: Nate goes to school and he gets a whole bunch of detention slips. He also forgot his lunch since he was in such a hurry and then he only got a fortune cookie.

But the fortune was “today you will surpass all others.” Then he got really excited about that. And then he tries a whole bunch of things to surpass all others. And then when he tries to set a world record for speed eating, he ends up with a really sick stomach.

At the end, Nate turns in all his detention slips and he got a detention slip in every single class. Not only did he get all those detention slips but he also got one from the principal. (Uh oh!) and then he sets a new record for getting the most detention slips. The moral of the story is never try to skip school. There will always be a consequence.

Nate did surpass all others by getting the most detention slips that a student has ever gotten.

Day Dreaming Essay

Day Dreaming Essay.

A fact that has been known recently is that humans spend up to thirty three pe cent of their waking hours daydreaming. Day dreaming is a part of the human mental progress . Most people look at day dreaming as a negative thing but it has got its positveness too. Firstly, daydreaming helps you relax . Like meditation daydreaming allows your mind to take a break to release tension and be refreshed. It’s also very useful or controlling anxiety and phobias. Studies also show that you’ll be able to handle situations in a better way.

It is also usefl for personal conflicts.

Some psychotherapists call it “rewinding the tape” for example reviewing an argument in your mind and going back and imagining you responded differently . I you try this exercise a few times you will realize taht each time you respond differently and begin to figure out better ways of dealing with the person you had the argument with in the future.

It also helps people to maintain relationships . Absence makes teh heart grow fonder especially between daydreamers. Happy couples tend to think about their loved one when they’re apart which has he effect of psycolgically maintaining the relationship.

Boosting productivity is another factor of daydreaming . Studies also suggest that when a person allws himself a few minutes to daydream it may put you in a much better mood allowing you then to continue your work in a better way and obviously faster. Daydreaming about someting positive that you have to do after your work clears your mind and gives you the urge to get things done ! Maybe a factor that most people associate daydreaming with is relieving boredom. In my opinion this is why most people daydream a lot.

People with monotonous jobs , like factory workers and security guards often use daydreaming to keep their minds stimulated and get them through the day. Students also use day dreaming as a way of escaping from all the stress that school bring along with it . Cementing beliefs and values are other ways of letting daydreaming get in the way. Imagining scenarios and imagining yourslef convincing someone of something you believe in storngly you are also in a sense getting to know yourself better and understanding for what you stand for.

Daydreaming also boosts your sense of creativity and achievements. The beauty of day dreamin is that nothing is impossible. Olympic athletes and performers use the same kind of visualisatin in order to help in tehir performance in th way that actual physical practice does All this is not to say that there aren’t potential negatives to day dreaming. Obsessive thinking, for example can interfere with day-to-day functioning in some cases. Likewise, lonely people can furthere isolate themsleves if they spend too much time ruminating about the past.

Biographical Sketch Essay

Biographical Sketch Essay.

A biorgaphical sketch refers to a brief biography of an individual. This may contain the dates of one’s birth, and death if they are dead and small outline of their background.

Typical Biorgaphical Sketch

  • must be no longer than 300 words
  • a (biosketch) brief summary of you or someone else’s professional or educational accomplishments, publications, and affiliations
  • an abbreviated curriculum vitae (resumé)-meant to highlight important aspects of your training, experience, and areas of interest.
  • a ‘light sketch’ of a person’s life

Below is an example:

Mae Jemison: Space Star

Have you ever dreamed of flying freely through outer space, surrounded by a sea of stars? Mae Jemison fulfilled that dream.

On September 12, 1992, aboard the spaceship Endeavour, she became the first African-American woman to blast into outer space. This wasn’t the only time, however, that Jemison had reached for the stars and realized her dreams.

Jemison was born on October 17, 1956, in Decatur, Alabama, but she grew up in Chicago, Illinois.

There weren’t many well-known African-American female role models while Jemison was growing up, but she didn’t let that stop her from achieving her goals. She was especially interested in anthropology, archaeology and astronomy. Luckily, her parents encouraged those interests. That encouragement drove her to excel. She graduated from high school at 16. Then she earned degrees in chemical engineering and African-American studies at Stanford University. Later, she graduated from Cornell University’s medical school. No challenge was too great for Jemison to take on.

Jemison’s accomplishments did not end there. In 1981, she joined NASA’s space program in Houston, Texas. And in 1988, Jemison realized her biggest dream. She finally became an astronaut! Just four years later, she was named science mission specialist (another NASA first) on an Endeavour flight.

Today, Jemison encourages young people — especially women and girls — to study the sciences. Her life example teaches us to follow our dreams, no matter how great.

Feature Story

  • a special human interest story or article that is not closely tied to a recent news event. It focuses on particular people, places, and events, and it goes into great detail regarding concepts and ideas of specific market interest.
  • in journalistic terms, it is an article in newspapers, magazine or on the internet which is intended to add depth and perspective in a story. It mostly dwells on the background of an event and gives a human interest perspective to a story or a commentary on a particular issue.

My Dream Career Essay

My Dream Career Essay.

“Because everyone has a dream.” A line my mother always told me whenever I asked why people became successful in life. And I’ve always wondered what having dreams contributed to them being successful. And now I know the answer. People took these dreams as their guide to a brighter and better future. These people worked hard and sacrificed so much just to make their dreams come true. Inventors, scientists, mathematicians, Bill Gates and many more; people, big and small, have dreams.

People’s dreams can come in any forms commonly what they want to be when they grow up. There are hundreds, thousands or even millions of career you can choose from. From simple ones to the more complicated ones. Because of this, people will be confused for they’ll have a lot of options to choose from. Like many people, I, myself, am confused and I often ask myself, “What do I really want to be when I grow up?” or “What career is really fit for me?”

I started dreaming of becoming a nurse when I was still 6 years old because I wanted to help sick people.

By the age of 10, I told myself that someday, I will be a great teacher and that I will teach everyone to read and write and count. And as I was growing up, my dream career also changed into something more complicated until I already thought about the one I’m certain with.

Idea of Combining Two Careers

Recently, as I was reading a book, I saw a list of careers for people alike. I scrolled down the list until I saw two careers that really caught my eye: GEOLOGIST and PHYSICIST. I was amazed by how only a few people became famous in these fields. I began to infer that these two careers must really be difficult but that thought didn’t stop me from wanting to try it when I reach college. But I’m an indecisive person so I spent almost every day thinking about which I should go for and suddenly, an idea popped in my head: “Why not try both?” I did encounter Geophysics in our lessons. And that’s how I made it as my dream career.

I’ve always had Math and Science as my 2 top favorite subjects in class. Physics involves both Math and Science. I’ve also been fascinated about the planet where we’re living in, its structure, composition and everything that involves Earth. That’s what Geology is all about. So when I grow up, I want to be a Geophysicist, a person who studies the physics and physical processes of the Earth. I want to discover things about our planet that were never discovered before. I want to answer the unanswered questions and explore the mysteries of Earth. It’s amazing how scientists in this field do these things I mentioned and I became more interested when I saw other Filipinos and their contributions to Geophysics helping people all over the world. And that’s what I intend to do. I want to help people ease their curious minds and to make things easier for them especially in time of devastations and catastrophes.

Why It Is Worthy To Pursue Your Dream

I know being a Geophysicist isn’t some child’s play. I know it takes more than knowledge and skill to be a Geophysicist. I know that a simple mistake could be the end of it. And I know most of all that I need to make sacrifices, minor and major ones. But I’m more than willing to take those risks if it means reaching my dreams and my future. People may scoff at my dreams or may pull me down, but I am not backing down nor giving up. Because I believe, even though it may sound cliché, that someday, with hard work and with the Lord’s guidance, my dreams will definitely come true.
