A driver’s license is an official document which officiates a person’s legality for operating a motor vehicle. In the United States, a basic Class C drivers license allow a perspective driver to operate a 2-axle vehicle with a GVWR of 26,000 lbs. or less, a 3-axle vehicle weighing 6,000 lbs. or less, a motorized scooter, and any house car 40′ or less. In California, a person reaching the age of sixteen is allowed to apply for a Class C driver’s license at the California‘s Department of Motor Vehicles.

However, before applying for California’s basic Class C driver’s license, people have to go through a lengthy six month procedure. Being the only method of driving legally, obtaining a basic Class C California driver’s license for a minor can be accomplished by completing four steps in order: Drivers Education certificate, Passing written test and obtaining a learners permit, behind the wheel training, and passing the driving test.

First step to attaining a basic Class C California driver’s license for minors is getting a driver’s education certificate.

Driver’s Education is a formal class or program that enables a prospective driver to learn basic road rules from government printed handbooks or manuals. In California, a driver’s education certificate can be attained in a classroom-like setting or online; the time it takes to obtain a certificate varies. Furthermore, after receiving a Driver’s Education certificate, then one is eligible to take the written test, in order to, get a learning permit.

Second step to attaining a basic Class C California driver’s license for a minor is to pass a written test, and to obtain a learners permit. In California, a driver’s license written test is a multiple choice test, and contains questions about California’s driving rules and regulations. Once one has received a passing score, they shall be awarded with a learners permit. A Learner Permit is a restricted license that is given to a person who is learning to drive, but has not yet satisfied the requirements to obtain a Driver’s License; a learners permit is usually held for six months. Therefore, since the legal driving age in California is sixteen, a minor may receive a learner’s permit at fifteen and a half years of age. Minors who hold a learners permit may only operate a motor vehicle under a parent or guardians supervision. Furthermore, minors are allowed to train for their drivers test.

Third step to attaining a basic Class C California driver’s license for a minor is completing six hours of Behind the Wheel Training. After a student has learned the basic rules of the road, they take part in actual driving under the tutelage of an instructor. The instructor’s main objective is to help their student pass their upcoming drivers test after their learners permit expires. These classes cost about two-hundred to three-hundred dollars depending on the company. Some of the training minors receive in the behind the wheel classes are: operating a motor vehicle, hand signals, lane changes, speed consistency, and parallel parking. Therefore, after one has completed six hours of behind the wheel training, and six months have passed, they are now allowed to schedule an appointment for their drivers test.

Finally, the fourth step to attaining a basic Class C California driver’s license for a minor is to receive a passing score on the driving test. A drivers test is a procedure designed to test a person’s ability to drive a motor vehicle. In California, a driver’s tests is administered in the open road for about twenty minutes with an official driving instructor, and tests the ability to be able to make left and right turns, stops at controlled and uncontrolled intersections, straight line backing, lane changes, driving in regular street traffic, and in some cases driving on the freeway.

Minors, who complete the four step procedure in California, will be awarded their basic Class C driver’s license. Although, there license would still be restricted under California law, which include restrictions on curfews, and transporting passengers who are minors themselves. Furthermore, once a minor has reached the age of eighteen, they are fully entitled to an unrestricted license.

Most People have no idea that they are risking their lives each and every day by doing the simplest of tasks and one of them includes riding and or driving a car. Nowadays, more drivers have begun to develop excessively dangerous driving habits. Not too many people know, but, traveling by car is actually a lot more jeopardous than flying on a plane. You would truly be a lot safer by taking a train, or boat or anything else. Unfortunately, our society has become dominated by time; causing us to ignore everything around us, putting us at serious risk.

Not many people know, but, you are more probable to die in a car wreck than in a plane crash or any other type of transportation mishap. There are about 160,000 road accidents in Canada every year. According to the Transportation Safety Board approximately 2800 to 2900 people are killed on Canadian roads each year. So, I don’t really see why so many people are afraid to fly, when in reality, it’s a lot safer than driving.

You don’t hear about plane crashes in the news very often, but every day you hear and read about hundreds of thousands of car accidents that happen daily.

Almost all of these accidents are caused by dangerous driving. There are many different levels of dangerous driving. This may vary from driving while under the influence to texting while driving. Some of these dangerous driving habits include speeding, driving too slow, eating while driving, failing to signal, using your cell phone. Dangerous driving habits can be seen on highways, on residential streets, and in parking lots. You do not have to travel far to see people driving with risky driving techniques.

Many of us survive these situations, but some do not. Dangerous drivers kill people and destroy property everyday. Younger drivers can be dangerous drivers simply because they lack experience driving in various environments, such as driving at night, or driving on interstate highways. But there are drivers from all age groups that have dangerous driving habits. Even older drivers are sometimes dangerous because their senses and reflexes are not as good as they were.

Some bad habits that dangerous drivers practice are: Speeding Driving at an excessive rate of speed is quite common. This practice is especially dangerous when driving through a residential neighbourhood or a school zone. Posted speed limits are not meant to be suggestions; ignore them and you run the risk of being stopped and ticketed by police. Driving Too Slow Drivers become distracted and don’t realize where they are driving and drive at the same speed on the highway as they do in a residential area. A better strategy is to look at the posted speed limits and adjust your speed accordingly.

Cell Phone Use Many people use cell phones on a regular basis to keep in touch with family, friends and work associates. The problem is that it’s very difficult to keep your eyes on the road while talking on a cell phone. If you feel that you need to be accessible while driving, set your phone to hands-free and use the speaker feature. Eating While Driving It may be tempting to try to multitask and have a snack (or a full meal) while driving, but this is not recommended. When you are behind the wheel of your vehicle, your full attention should be on what is happening around you on the road.

Trying to eat while keeping control of your car is a difficult, if not impossible task. Applying Makeup While Behind the Wheel Some women, when pressed for time, continue with their morning rituals while on the way to work. More than one person has been observed trying to apply cosmetics when her attention should have been on the road. Failing to Use Turn Signals When a drivers uses the turn signals that their vehicle is equipped with properly, it give notice to other people on the road of their intention to change lanes or make a turn.

Failing to do so may cause an accident, and may also be at the root of situations where a motorist has experienced the consequences of road rage. Even if you catch yourself being guilty of one of these dangerous driving habits, you can make changes to your driving routine to improve them. Being aware of what you are doing when you are behind the wheel is the first step. Make a point of focusing only on the road when you are driving, and if you need to eat, apply cosmetics, or make a phone call, pull over first.

Texting while driving is a form of ‘distracted driving.

The term not only applies to using cell phones when behind the wheel, but also to actions such as eating, drinking, putting on make-up, smoking, and using other devices such as iPods and GPSs. These activities lead to “inattention blindness” which defers drivers focus from the road to the device within their line of view. Distracted driving has thoroughly increased since the invention of new technologies. No matter where the electronic is placed, whether it is on the dash board or on the steering wheel, one’s eyes are not where they need to be.

People’s eyes are supposed to be one the road at all times. While driving through town or down the interstate, it’s rare not to see someone driving while talking on his or her phone. During the period of time, the driver’s attention is focused in the conversation. This decreases the driver’s skills to react in time to possible dangers on the road. Ignorance While Driving Essay

Ignorance While Driving Essay.

Many of today’s accidents occur because people tend to act ignorant, and do things they are not suppose to do while driving. Driving is a special privilege and skill, which includes paying attention to detail at all times, for the sake of your life and others. Most car accidents, with and without injuries are because people exceed the speed limit, using cell phones, and lack of attention. It is very sad that millions of innocent people lose their lives every year because of ignorance.

Going over the speed limit is a major reason in which many accidents occur in the United States today. If there is a set speed limit, there is obviously a reason, and it should not be ignored; however, in saying that it always is. Not only when speeding are you breaking the law, you might injure yourself or someone else, all because you thought you could get somewhere faster by exceeding the speed limit. I bet you were not thinking that you would be the reason in which someone innocent would be injured or even dead due to your ignorance.

Speeding is the factor in about 40 percent of all roadside deaths, so it is becoming pretty serious. Do not be the one to cause these accidents, you will be the one that has to suffer due to your own ignorance.

The use of cell phones while driving is prohibited in most states. It is a recurring question in my mind as to why people continue to do it. Nothing in this world is more important than your life or the life of another. People get to excited and into a conversation, if it is that important you need to pull over; the road will always be there. Cell phone distraction causes 2,600 deaths and 333,000 injuries in the United States every year. Many people in the world have to die because of technology, and people’s ignorance to it, there are laws set in place for safety; let’s follow them and try to avoid some of this stuff.

Lack of attention, while driving is somewhat amazing to me. Driving is a skill in which you must pay attention at all times, all that it can take is for you to lose it for a second and, Boom!, your gone. There are so many things going on around you when you drive, not only do you have to watch out for you, but all the other people around you. Attention to detail can save a life, you cannot be driving down the road putting on your make up, day dreaming about what you will do when you get home, trying to spank your children in the backseat, or just downright not paying attention.

Bottom line up front driving is a privilege, not a right. We as Americans lose way too many people due to ignorance while driving; whether it be speeding, use of cell phones, or lack attention. We need to start abiding by the laws and see if we can make a difference in the numbers listed above. There should be no reason that innocent people have to die or become injured, due to someone else’s ignorance.

Driving Age Essay

Driving Age Essay.

Driving age Turning the age of fifteen is a huge step in the life of a teen. When becoming this age a new challenge is brought into the person’s life, the task of driving a car. But are fifteen year olds ready for this task. Driving a car is a task that should only be taken on by teenagers over the age of eighteen, because they are more responsible and understand the risks involved. In this essay I will explain and give reasons on why I think that the driving age should be raised to be able to get your drivers license at.

102 First Argument

Teenagers not needing vehicles In todays society the idea of fifteen, sixteen and seventeen year olds operating cars has become a way of life. But if one stops to think about it, there is no need for these drivers to be on the road. Most of these drivers still live at home and have no Job because theyre still in school.

So they have no Job to drive to or from. To go to school they can take the bus or be dropped off by their parents. I know there’s so many times when I want to drive somewhere because my parents aren’t home or I Just want o be by myself outside of the house.

I’m sure a lot of teenagers that are younger than sixteen can’t wait to be able to get on the road. Maybe they aren’t responsible enough, but then they shouldn’t be driving. 144 Second Argument Accidents are caused mostly by teenagers The dramatic increase in teen accidents has lead major portions of the public to favor the driving age to be raised to eighteen. The direct concern is over fifteen, sixteen and seventeen -year-old drivers if they are responsible and experienced nough to drive on the road.

Most New Zealand citizens agree that accidents involving teen drivers are their lack of Judgment and irresponsibility as a driver, and as well as their lack of experience and poor attention to details. I believe that the increase in teen accidents may decrease if the driving age is raised to eighteen. 98 Teenagers between the ages of fifteen, sixteen and seventeen years of age are more prone to get in a car accident then an eighteen or nineteen-year-old driver.

There is a mall percent of teens on the road that obey the traffic laws, but there are many teen drivers that are reckless and showoffs. They rather gamble their life away drag racing down the freeway or down the street then acting responsible and mature while driving. The consequences of unsafe or irresponsible teen driving a cause 77% of automobile accidents. Parents and other supporters may argue that there is no difference between an eighteen-year-old driver to a sixteen or seventeen year old driver between the amount of experience they have. 123
