This paper will have three parts addressing two important pieces of legislation related to the right of individuals to make health care decisions for themselves.
Part I
The Advance Health Care Directive 
Locate a copy of an advanced directive (AD) that complies with the laws of the state in which you work. The organization in which you work should have a copy of an advance directive that is given to patients. If not, download your state’s Advance Directives here http://www.caringinfo.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3289.
Complete the advance directive for yourself.  Do not turn in your AD with your paper. The AD is for your personal use.
In your paper, Part I:

Identify where you obtained the AD and explain its compliance with state law.
Conduct research (1-2 sources) to learn more about the AD in your state and explain how it works.
Discuss how easy or difficult it was to complete the AD. Your comments should be specific and both objective and subjective. Male nurses face more difficulties and challenges than female nurses due to gender stereotypes and the perception that nursing is a nurturing profession for women.

Outline:

1- Men do not care”

· Women are compassionate and care givers, those characteristics identify them; while men on the other side, are known for their rough treatment.

2- Male nurses do not have a role model most of the time.

· Some barriers start while in nursing school programs. With the male nursing faculty being less than the general population of males in nursing, men do not feel the same connection with instructors and clinical rotation managers as female do.

3- Male nurses experience more role strain than female nurses when it comes to touching patients of the opposite sex and even the same one.

· Male nurses reported to be hesitant to touch female patients, fearing of being accused of inappropriately touching them; and when touching men, they fear of giving the impression of being gay.

Conclusions:

In conclusion, the nursing career has been chosen by women for a long time, despite this, men interests in the field have increased over the years. With this, people would imagine that the barriers keeping men from entering a nursing program would disappear, but they still exist. The gender stereotyping in the nursing career must be stopped; men have proven to be good care takers, as much as women.

Describe the consequences of not properly managing patients™ pain (e.g. decreased reimbursement rates, poor public perception of the healthcare provider/hospital, fines, regulatory accreditation issues, etc.).

II. Synthesis of the Literature (7 Pages)

Conduct a focused systematic review of scholarly literature (see the articles I uploaded) related to the practice problem and the effectiveness of the selected Intervention to the desired outcome in the selected population and setting; effectively synthesize and concisely summarize the reviewed scholarly literature related to the practice problem.
Background Information: The pilot pain management protocol uses the following interventions:

-A three-part online education module for nurses on use of the teach-back method and pain management. A pre and post-education quiz will be completed by each nurse online and the scores will be collected in the online learning management system

-Nurses will be expected to utilize the teach-back method when delivering patient education

-Nurses will be expected to use the white board in each patient™s room to identify the pain management plan of care (i.e. current pain score, goal pain score, pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management intervention and a listing of when pain interventions are next available). Nursing leadership will be validating (with a simple validation tool) that the white board is updated every shift and that patients understand their pain related plan of care.
